Fondata nel VI secolo a.C. come colonia di Siracusa per contrastare l'espansione di Gela, Kamarina divenne un fiorente centro agricolo e commerciale. La citt\u00e0, distrutta e ricostruita pi\u00f9 volte, raggiunse il suo apice sotto Timoleonte nel IV secolo a.C., prima di essere definitivamente conquistata dai Romani e distrutta dagli Arabi nell\u2019827.\n\nOggi, l\u2019acropoli di Kamarina rivela i resti del Tempio di Athena e l'antica cinta muraria. I reperti scoperti sono esposti nei Musei Archeologici di Kamarina, Ragusa e Siracusa.
